L.A. South Chamber of Commerce Plans Events to Encourage Super Bowl Tourists to Connect with the Businesses & Destinations in South L.A.

Feb 3, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles -– Leading up to the Super Bowl, the L.A. South Chamber of Commerce has lined up a series of community and virtual events to encourage tourists and locals to connect with the Chamber, its businesses, and the many retail, dining, entertainment & cultural destinations in South Los Angeles and adjacent areas.

“Many tourists that come to L.A. visit our more popular destinations, like theme parks and beaches, which is great. But we also want to invite Super Bowl tourists to experience other great destinations like the Watts Towers, Magic Johnson Park, Leimert Park Village, Market Street in Inglewood, and so many others,” stated Dexter McLeod, President of the L.A. South Chamber of Commerce. “We have heard that the Super Bowl will bring hundreds of thousands of visitors and upwards of $300 million in economic benefits to the area. We want to ensure that those South LA. businesses and destinations within a short drive of the stadium will also benefit greatly from this economic opportunity.”

The events planned by the Chamber include a Business Roundtable in Watts at Macedonia Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 8 at 10am and a virtual discussion on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Sports & Super Bowl History on Wednesday, February 9 at 2pm. The Chamber will have an interactive booth with giveaways and info at the Taste of Inglewood on Friday and Saturday, February 11th and 12th, from 10am-8pm, and will also host a Super Saturday Networking Breakfast at the Proud Bird on February 12 at 9am. A portion of the proceeds from the Networking Breakfast, the only ticketed event, will support the initiatives of the L.A. South HOPE Foundation which include Financial Literacy, Health & Wellness, Youth Mentoring/ Entrepreneurs Jr. program for underserved youth, and HOPE grants for small businesses in need.

Free copies of the South L.A. Destination Guide will be available at all scheduled events and groups of L.A. South Chamber volunteers, dubbed the “HOPE Team,” will be at various points of interest throughout the week, greeting tourists and welcoming them to our beautiful city.
