Did you know that your special photos are your significant stories? Stories that matter! And, if you don’t preserve them, they will deteriorate, fade away, and you’ll lose those special photos FOREVER! Cherished memories, that’s captured in a photograph embrace your heritage, history, culture and even your legacies. And these special memories are truly your stories, that could be very important to your journey in life, as well as a significant link for future generations. Great photos are snapshots, of moments in time, that you can never get back and if you don’t preserve them, again you will lose those special memories FOREVER!
When I was a little girl, at the age of 6, my parents called my brother and I indoors from playing with our friends to take a family photograph. Well, I didn’t quite understand the urgency, especially since it was interrupting my playtime. But my dad, who was in the Air Force knew we were being transferred overseas and we wouldn’t see our grandparents for a couple of years. This photo would not only be important to my dad, but extremely important to me much later in life.
After being laid off during my earlier years of my accounting career, I went back to school for graphic design, which changed the direction of my life. As I began my new career as a graphic designer, I also began my own home-based graphic design business, part-time. Today, I run a full-time photo restoration, legacy art, graphic design and print service, because I decided to pursue my passion, which has always been art. I’ve helped many businesses, families and individual preserve their special photos, so they can continue sharing their special stories and I still provide design services, now for over sixteen years. I’m a proud, four-year member of the LA South Chamber, serving on the marketing team…and this chamber is truly not your average chamber.
My purpose for writing this article is because you have stories too. About 5 years ago, my brother and I found that old black and white family photo, the one we took when were just kids. It was the only photo that we had ever taken of our four generational family. And believe me, there are so many stories in that photo, about each family member, that amazes me to this day. I have truly found a new passion and purpose of creating art and that’s to encourage others about the value of their stories captured in their photos. So, I decided to repair, restore and bring life to my family photo, which is now my very own beautiful, legacy piece of art. Our story will continue to be told and passed on to our children and future generations. To this day, my family art piece is one of the most popular pieces of art that I exhibit, giving my clients ideas of how art can be created from their photos. You too, have amazing stories that are captured in your photos and when they are created into art, become an exciting experience to embrace, share, and pass on forever! Remember, your special photos are your significant stories, stories that matter… so don’t let them fade away!
