Small Business Support

What does it mean to support small business? When you support small businesses, you’re also supporting your local community. By spending your dollars there, you are helping to stimulate the local economy, and keep businesses thriving within your region.

You are supporting Entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs are a key factor for job creation, elimination of poverty, income growth and building sustainable communities. Here are several ways you can help support small businesses.

1. Shopping locally: Choosing to buy products and or services from local small businesses instead of larger chain stores or online retailers. This helps stimulate the local economy and supports the livelihoods of small business owners and their employees.

2. Referrals and recommendations: Spreading the word about small businesses to family, friends, and your social networks. Word-of-mouth referrals can significantly impact the success of small businesses.

3. Social media engagement: Following, likes and sharing, and commenting on small business pages can help increase their visibility and reach. The engagement can attract new customers and build a loyal community around the business.

4. Reviews: Writing reviews and leaving positive comments and ratings on platforms such as Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Yelp can boost a small business’s online reputation and attract more customers.

5. Collaboration and partnerships: Small businesses can benefit from collaborations with other local businesses, such as joint marketing efforts, cross-promotions and shared events. This allows the pooling of resources, expansion of networks and reach of a wider audience.

6. Provide mentorship and advise: Experienced entrepreneurs or professionals can offer guidance and support to small business owners through mentoring programs or networking events. Sharing knowledge and insights can help small businesses navigate and make informed decisions.

Remember supporting small businesses goes beyond monetary transactions. It involves creating an ecosystem where small businesses can thrive by actively engaging with and promoting them in your community.
